We receive many questions about feasible taxi fares in Hurghada so we thought that we would write a small guide on the ever discussed topic and to have as a reference for guests staying in our fully furnished holiday rentals in Hurghada.

As with most popular tourist destinations around the world, there are some bad apples trying to use tourists unfamiliarity with the local costs of things and that also goes for taxi fares in Hurghada and, in particular, from the Hurghada International airport when arriving.

But have no fear, we will give you a very nice guide on what to be expected to pay, as a guidance, which were created in December, 2020.

So let’s us try and help you understand  what to expect when arriving in Hurghada and read some of our own personal recommendations based on first-hand experience on the subject.

Some General Words And Tips About Using A Taxi in Hurghada?

The taxi fares in Hurghada, and Egypt in general, are among the cheapest in the world if not THE cheapest taxi fares in the world as we wrote about in a previous blog post.

With that being said, no one likes to be ripped off and the brain might not be working that well after a long flight and the Hurghadian sun blazing in your face and you just want to get to one of our affordable vacation rentals in Hurghada or to your (expensive no doubt) booked hotel.

Always, always, negotiate the price BEFORE jumping into the taxi and don’t let the driver increase the price during the drive and always, always write down the drivers name AND taxi number that are always visible on the taxi itself.

That can become very useful if you should lose something in the taxi, forget some of your luggage and become a victim of having to exorbitant taxi fares in Hurghada.

What Taxi Fares in Hurghada Does Actually Apply?

We have obtained a list from a seasoned taxi driver what to expect when it comes to taxi fares in Hurghada divided into a “fair price” and a “wow price”.

The “Fair Price” and “Wow Price” does not differ that much considering the fact that 10 Egyptian Pounds is only about €0,5 so take that into consideration and always have the courtesy to tip your taxi driver if they are nice and helpful and not trying to take you for a ride when it comes to payment.

So let’s start off from the very top so you get a general understanding and then work our way down when it comes to distances.

As you can see from the list, the taxi fares in Hurghada are as “high” as 130Le (€6.75) and that is from Safaga to El Gouna.

That is a ride (Google Maps) of 86.5km and takes just above one hour and that sets the “longest scenario” standard.

Now, when we have established that we can work our way down as most of our guests staying in our short-term holiday rentals in Hurghada, they are not staying in Safaga but more in the very heart of Hurghada, at Sheraton Plaza, or closer to El Gouna at Tiba Resort and Tiba View T89.

What About Taxi Fares in Hurghada From The Airport?

Most of people visiting Hurghada are arriving at the Hurghada International Airport so let’s take a look at that.

We will stick more to the “Wow” price as that is the higher of the two tariff mentioned in the list of feasible taxi fares in Hurghada, and it’s small money we are talking about, so you know that anything above the mentioned “Wow” price is on the higher side.

To be fair, we are writing this guide from a realistic tourist perspective on taxi fares in Hurghada to be considered when you are arriving at first to avoid getting ripped off.

We are sure that some seasoned travelers / expats say “I would never pay more than xx for that ride” but they know Hurghada way more than a regular tourist does when first arriving and staying a shorter period of time.

Two popular hotels in Hurghada, located very close to our holiday rentals at Sheraton Plaza by the New Marina, are Bella Vista and Seagull hotel.

From the airport, that taxi fare should be around 60Le (€3.2) including the airport tariff so no more than 80Le (€4.15) is feasible.

Even though the taxi fares in Hurghada, according to the guide is less, sometimes it’s worth to pay a bit more to just get to where you are going instead of haggling over 20Le (€1) after a long trip.

As a general guidance, the taxi fares in Hurghada from the airport to anywhere in Hurghada itself, should absolutely not be higher than 100Le (€5.20) including airport tariffs but more in the 80Le range.

The taxi fares in Hurghada for a trip from the airport to somewhere in El Gouna should no more than 130Le (€6.8) including airport tariffs.

Again, that can be seen on the high side but now you have a general guidance to not to get ripped off with a 250Le taxi ride to Sheraton Road in central Hurghada when you now know more about feasible taxi fares in Hurghada.

Taxi Fares To Our Holiday Rentals in Hurghada @ Tiba Resort And Tiba View

Our fully furnished holiday rentals in Hurghada quickly became popular with many positive reviews so we have our share of guests to and from these lovely resorts close to El Gouna.

Our guideline to our guests staying in any of our short-term rental apartments at either resort, is that the taxi fare should be in the area of 120Le to 130Le from Hurghada International Airport including airport tariffs to Tiba Resort or Tiba View.

However, we strongly recommend all our guests to book a private airport transfer for both security and convenience and is well worth the investment in getting a peace of mind.

Use UBER or Careem in Hurghada

There are some taxi companies in Hurghada that are better than others and can be added on to WhatsApp for convenience and get a price upfront which is great.

Some of the companies that can be mentioned is ABC Taxi Hurghada, Alpha Taxi Hurghada and 123 Taxi Hurghada.

They can all be Googled and added before departure and is great for everyday use when in Hurghada or to arrange an airport pick-up.

However, something that works the very best is UBER and Careem (now owned by UBER) by far. They both work exactly the same way and UBER is by now very familiar in how that works so you get the picture.

It is also an easy way to ensure that you get fair taxi fares in Hurghada during your stay and it is HIGHLY recommended to use UBER and/or Careem during your stay.
