We have said it since a few years back, Egypt in general, but Hurghada in particular, will bounce back as one of the worlds most popular tourist destinations and now we have confirmation that Egypt is the fastest growing tourist destination.

The United Nations World Tourism Organization reports that while France is the most visited country, Egypt is the fastest growing tourist destination, in its annual global travel and tourism report.

Despite the fact that Egypt experienced a decrease in tourist visits in 2016 (5.2 million) due to the suspension of flights to key Egyptian destinations because of the downing of a Russian charter jet, Egypt is the fastest growing tourist destination yet again.

Tourists visiting Egypt in 2017 increased 55.1% to about 8.5 million compared to a year earlier.

To cement the fact that Egypt is the fastest growing tourist destination at the moment, in August of 2018, a government official reported a whopping 77% jump in tourism revenue in the first half of 2018 compared to last year.
